Job Description
Managing Editor:
The Managing Editor is the liaison between print and online content and needs to be aware of what kinds of content and which stories are going where. Beyond the content, the managing editor needs to be able to explain how to use InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Wordpress to others and help design pages or offer advice on design and layout. Managing Editor also gives edits to drafts and may meet with writers or editors as needed. Additionally, the Managing Editor is in charge of keeping the room and Google Drive organized and generally keeping track of what needs to be done and maintaining a drafts checklist. As a member of the executive board of the paper, the Managing Editor meets with the Editor-in-Chief, Chief Visual Editor, Online Editor-in-Chief, and Online Chief Visual Editor to discuss leadership methods, set goals for the staff, and discuss any issues that may arise. The Managing Editor’s duties may be quite nebulous, but generally they should identify what needs to be done and arrange for it to be done or do it themselves.

Skills/Requirements:
- Adeptness at using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Wordpress
- Able to work with section editors to give feedback on page design, with top editors to discuss goals and issues, and with writers to give edits on drafts
- Good understanding of AP style, Rubicon Style, and grammar
- Willingness to spend free time working on pages
- Organization
- Being assertive and able to step up to take on what needs to be done
- Versatility to be able to help in a variety of areas and take on a variety of tasks
